    The bq40z50 is a single-chip solution for gas gauging, protection, and authentication of 1-4 series Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery packs. It uses patented Impedance Track™ technology to measure available capacity, voltage, current, temperature, and other critical battery parameters, and communicates this data to a host controller via SMBus. It provides 1st and 2nd level safety protection against various fault conditions.
