8 Application and Implementation

8.1 Application Information

The AMC0x00D has low analog input voltage range, high accuracy, low temperature drift, and high common-

mode transient immunity. The AMC0x00D is primarily designed for shunt-based current-sensing applications

where accurate current monitoring is required in the presence of high common-mode voltages. The AMC0x00D

is preferred for isolated current sensing in motor drives, frequency inverters, and uninterruptible power-supply

applications.

8.2 Typical Application

The following image shows the AMC0x00D in a typical application. The load current flowing through an external

shunt resistor RSHUNT produces a voltage drop. The AMC0x00D high-side circuitry senses the voltage drop

across the shunt resistor, then digitizes and transfers data across the isolation barrier to the low side. Low-side

circuitry reconstructs the digitized data into an analog signal and provides the signal as a differential voltage on

the output pins.

The differential input, differential output, and high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of the AMC0x00D

provide reliable and accurate operation even in high-noise environments.
