Remote Sense Compensation

Theremotesensecompensationfeatureminimizestheeffectofresistanceinthedistributionsystem

andfacilitatesaccuratevoltageregulationattheloadterminalsoranotherselectedpoint.Theremote

senselineswillcarryverylittlecurrentandhencedonotrequirealargecross-sectionalarea.However,if

thesenselinesareroutedonaPCB,theyshouldbelocatedclosetoagroundplaneinordertominimize

anynoisecoupledontothelinesthatmightimpaircontrolloopstability.Themodulewillcompensate

foramaximumdropof400 mV.Rememberthatwhenusingremotesensecompensationalltheresist-

ance,parasiticinductanceandcapacitanceofthedistributionsystemareincorporatedintothefeedback

loopofthepowermodule.Thiscanhaveaneffectonthemodulescompensationcapabilities,affecting

its stability and dynamic response.

Parallel Operation

ParalleloperationofmultipleconvertersisavailablesincetheSIL/SMT80C2hasacurrentsharingoption.

Theconverterwillsharetowithin±10%offullload.Tocurrentshare,Pin6ofeachmoduleshouldbe

connected.Also,theremotesenselinesshouldbeconnectedatthesamepoint.Figure9showsthe

typicalcurrentsharingapplication.
