Asmallceramiccapacitorinparallelwithalargertantalum capacitormaybeusedindemandingapplicationsthathave largeloadtransients.Anothermethodofimprovingthe transientresponseistoaddasmallfeed-forwardcapacitor acrossthetopresistorofthefeedbackdivider(fromVOUT toFB).Atypicalvalueof22pFwillgenerallysuffice. LowESRinputcapacitorsreduceinputswitchingnoise andreducethepeakcurrentdrawnfromthebattery.It followsthatceramiccapacitorsarealsoagoodchoice forinputdecouplingandshouldbelocatedascloseas possibletothedevice.A2.2µFinputcapacitorissufficient for most applications, although larger values may be usedwithoutlimitations.Table2showsalistofseveral ceramiccapacitormanufacturers.Consultthemanufactur- ersdirectlyfordetailedinformationontheirselectionof ceramiccapacitors.
