TheWatchdogTimerisprovidedtopreventprogrammalfunctionsorsequencesfromjumpingto
unknownlocations,duetocertainuncontrollableexternaleventssuchaselectricalnoise.
Watchdog Timer Clock Source
TheWatchdogTimerclocksourceisprovidedbytheinternalclock,fLIRCwhichissourcedfrom
theLIRCoscillator.TheLIRCinternaloscillatorhasanapproximatefrequencyof32kHzandthis
specifiedinternalclockperiodcanvarywithVDD,temperatureandprocessvariations.TheWatchdog
Timersourceclockisthensubdividedbyaratioof28to218togivelongertimeouts,theactualvalue
beingchosenusingtheWS2~WS0bitsintheWDTCregister.

Asingleregister,WDTC,controlstherequiredtimeoutperiodaswellastheenable/disableoperation.
