Standard Type TM Operation Modes

TheStandardTypeTMcanoperateinoneoffiveoperatingmodes,CompareMatchOutputMode,

PWMOutputMode,SinglePulseOutputMode,CaptureInputModeorTimer/CounterMode.The

operatingmodeisselectedusingtheSTnM1andSTnM0bitsintheSTMnC1register.

Compare Match Output Mode

Toselectthismode,bitsSTnM1andSTnM0intheSTMnC1register,shouldbesetto00

respectively.Inthismodeoncethecounterisenabledandrunningitcanbeclearedbythree

methods.Theseareacounteroverflow,acomparematchfromComparatorAandacomparematch

fromComparatorP.WhentheSTnCCLRbitislow,therearetwowaysinwhichthecountercanbe

cleared.OneiswhenacomparematchfromComparatorP,theotheriswhentheCCRPbitsareall

zerowhichallowsthecountertooverflow.HerebothSTMnAFandSTMnPFinterruptrequestflags

forComparatorAandComparatorPrespectively,willbothbegenerated.

IftheSTnCCLRbitintheSTMnC1registerishighthenthecounterwillbeclearedwhenacompare

matchoccursfromComparatorA.However,hereonlytheSTMnAFinterruptrequestflagwill

begeneratedevenifthevalueoftheCCRPbitsislessthanthatoftheCCRAregisters.Therefore

whenSTnCCLRishighnoSTMnPFinterruptrequestflagwillbegenerated.IntheCompareMatch

OutputMode,theCCRAcannotbesetto"0".

IftheCCRAbitsareallzero,thecounterwilloverflowwhenitreachesitsmaximum10-bit,3FF

Hex,value,howeverheretheSTMnAFinterruptrequestflagwillnotbegenerated.

Asthenameofthemodesuggests,afteracomparisonismade,theSTMnoutputpin,willchange

state.TheSTMnoutputpinconditionhoweveronlychangesstatewhenaSTMnAFinterruptrequest

flagisgeneratedafteracomparematchoccursfromComparatorA.TheSTMnPFinterruptrequest

flag,generatedfromacomparematchoccursfromComparatorP,willhavenoeffectontheSTMn

outputpin.ThewayinwhichtheSTMnoutputpinchangesstatearedeterminedbytheconditionof

theSTnIO1andSTnIO0bitsintheSTMnC1register.TheSTMnoutputpincanbeselectedusing

theSTnIO1andSTnIO0bitstogohigh,togolowortotogglefromitspresentconditionwhena

comparematchoccursfromComparatorA.TheinitialconditionoftheSTMnoutputpin,whichis

setupaftertheSTnONbitchangesfromlowtohigh,issetupusingtheSTnOCbit.Notethatifthe

STnIO1andSTnIO0bitsarezerothennopinchangewilltakeplace.
