Pin-shared Function Selection Registers Thelimitednumberofsuppliedpinsinapackagecanimposerestrictionsontheamountoffunctions acertaindevicecancontain.Howeverbyallowingthesamepinstoshareseveraldifferentfunctions andprovidingameansoffunctionselection,awiderangeofdifferentfunctionscanbeincorporated intoevenrelativelysmallpackagesizes.ThesedevicesincludePort"x"OutputFunctionSelection register"n",labeledasPxSn,andInputFunctionSelectionregister,labeledasIFS,whichcanselect thedesiredfunctionsofthemulti-functionpin-sharedpins. Themostimportantpointtonoteistomakesurethatthedesiredpin-sharedfunctionisproperly selectedandalsodeselected.Toselectthedesiredpin-sharedfunction,thepin-sharedfunction shouldfirstbecorrectlyselectedusingthecorrespondingpin-sharedcontrolregister.Afterthatthe correspondingperipheralfunctionalsettingshouldbeconfiguredandthentheperipheralfunction canbeenabled.Tocorrectlydeselectthepin-sharedfunction,theperipheralfunctionshouldfirstbe disabledandthenthecorrespondingpin-sharedfunctioncontrolregistercanbemodifiedtoselect otherpin-sharedfunctions.
