Address Detect Mode

SettingtheAddressDetectModebit,ADDEN,intheUCR2register,enablesthisspecialmode.If

thisbitisenabledthenanadditionalqualifierwillbeplacedonthegenerationofaReceiverData

Availableinterrupt,whichisrequestedbytheRXIFflag.IftheADDENbitisenabled,thenwhen

dataisavailable,aninterruptwillonlybegenerated,ifthehighestreceivedbithasahighvalue.Note

thattheUARTEandEMIinterruptenablebitsmustalsobeenabledforcorrectinterruptgeneration.

Thishighestaddressbitisthe9thbitifBNO=1orthe8thbitifBNO=0.Ifthisbitishigh,then

thereceivedwordwillbedefinedasanaddressratherthandata.ADataAvailableinterruptwillbe

generatedeverytimethelastbitofthereceivedwordisset.IftheADDENbitisnotenabled,then

aReceiverDataAvailableinterruptwillbegeneratedeachtimetheRXIFflagisset,irrespectiveof

thedatalastbitstatus.Theaddressdetectmodeandparityenablearemutuallyexclusivefunctions.

Thereforeiftheaddressdetectmodeisenabled,thentoensurecorrectoperation,theparityfunction

shouldbedisabledbyresettingtheparityenablebitPRENtozero.

UART Power Down and Wake-up

WhentheUARTclock(fH)isoff,theUARTwillceasetofunction,allclocksourcestothe

moduleareshutdown.IftheUARTclock(fH)isoffwhileatransmissionisstillinprogress,then

thetransmissionwillbepauseduntiltheUARTclocksourcederivedfromthemicrocontrolleris

activated.Inasimilarway,iftheMCUentersthePowerDownModewhilereceivingdata,then

thereceptionofdatawilllikewisebepaused.WhentheMCUentersthePowerDownMode,note

thattheUSR,UCR1,UCR2,transmitandreceiveregisters,aswellastheBRGregisterwillnotbe

affected.ItisrecommendedtomakesurefirstthattheUARTdatatransmissionorreceptionhas

beenfinishedbeforethemicrocontrollerentersthePowerDownmode.

TheUARTfunctioncontainsareceiverRXpinwake-upfunction,whichisenabledordisabled

bytheWAKEbitintheUCR2register.Ifthisbit,alongwiththeUARTenablebit,UARTEN,the

receiverenablebit,RXENandthereceiverinterruptbit,RIE,areallsetwhentheUARTclock(fH)

isoff,thenafallingedgeontheRXpinwilltriggeranRXpinwake-upUARTinterrupt.Notethat

asittakescertainsystemclockcyclesafterawake-up,beforenormalmicrocontrolleroperation

resumes,anydatareceivedduringthistimeontheRXpinwillbeignored.

ForaUARTwake-upinterrupttooccur,inadditiontothebitsforthewake-upbeingset,theglobal

interruptenablebit,EMI,andtheUARTinterruptenablebit,UARTE,mustbeset.IftheEMIand

UARTEbitsarenotsetthenonlyawakeupeventwilloccurandnointerruptwillbegenerated.

Notealsothatasittakescertainsystemclockcyclesafterawake-upbeforenormalmicrocontroller

resumes,theUARTinterruptwillnotbegenerateduntilafterthistimehaselapsed.
