Toallowtheprogramtobranchtoitsrespectiveinterruptvectoraddress,theglobalinterruptenable

bit,EMI,respectiveTMInterruptenablebit,andrelevantMulti-functionInterruptenablebit,MFnE,

mustfirstbeset.Whentheinterruptisenabled,thestackisnotfullandaTMcomparatormatch

situationoccurs,asubroutinecalltotherelevantMulti-functionInterruptvectorlocations,willtake

place.WhentheTMinterruptisserviced,theEMIbitwillbeautomaticallyclearedtodisableother

interrupts,howeveronlytherelatedMFnFflagwillbeautomaticallycleared.AstheTMinterrupt

requestflagswillnotbeautomaticallycleared,theyhavetobeclearedbytheapplicationprogram.

Interrupt Wake-up Function

Eachoftheinterruptfunctionshasthecapabilityofwakingupthemicrocontrollerwheninthe

SLEEPorIDLEMode.Awake-upisgeneratedwhenaninterruptrequestflagchangesfromlow

tohighandisindependentofwhethertheinterruptisenabledornot.Therefore,eventhoughthese

devicesareintheSLEEPorIDLEModeanditssystemoscillatorstopped,situationssuchas

externaledgetransitionsontheexternalinterruptpinsoralowpowersupplyvoltagemaycause

theirrespectiveinterruptflagtobesethighandconsequentlygenerateaninterrupt.Caremust

thereforebetakenifspuriouswake-upsituationsaretobeavoided.Ifaninterruptwake-upfunction

istobedisabledthenthecorrespondinginterruptrequestflagshouldbesethighbeforethesedevices

entertheSLEEPorIDLEMode.Theinterruptenablebitshavenoeffectontheinterruptwake-up

function.

Programming Considerations

Bydisablingtherelevantinterruptenablebits,arequestedinterruptcanbepreventedfrombeing

serviced,however,onceaninterruptrequestflagisset,itwillremaininthisconditioninthe

interruptregisteruntilthecorrespondinginterruptisservicedoruntiltherequestflagisclearedby

theapplicationprogram.

WhereacertaininterruptiscontainedwithinaMulti-functioninterrupt,thenwhentheinterrupt

serviceroutineisexecuted,asonlytheMulti-functioninterruptrequestflags,MFnF,willbe

automaticallycleared,theindividualrequestflagforthefunctionneedstobeclearedbythe

applicationprogram.

Itisrecommendedthatprogramsdonotusethe"CALL"instructionwithintheinterruptservice

subroutine.Interruptsoftenoccurinanunpredictablemannerorneedtobeservicedimmediately.

Ifonlyonestackisleftandtheinterruptisnotwellcontrolled,theoriginalcontrolsequencewillbe

damagedonceaCALLsubroutineisexecutedintheinterruptsubroutine.

EveryinterrupthasthecapabilityofwakingupthemicrocontrollerwhenitisinSLEEPorIDLE

Mode,thewakeupbeinggeneratedwhentheinterruptrequestflagchangesfromlowtohigh.Ifitis

requiredtopreventacertaininterruptfromwakingupthemicrocontrollerthenitsrespectiverequest

flagshouldbefirstsethighbeforeenterSLEEPorIDLEMode.

AsonlytheProgramCounterispushedontothestack,thenwhentheinterruptisserviced,ifthe

contentsoftheaccumulator,statusregisterorotherregistersarealteredbytheinterruptservice

program,theircontentsshouldbesavedtothememoryatthebeginningoftheinterruptservice

routine.Toreturnfromaninterruptsubroutine,eitheraRETorRETIinstructionmaybeexecuted.

TheRETIinstructioninadditiontoexecutingareturntothemainprogramalsoautomaticallysets

theEMIbithightoallowfurtherinterrupts.TheRETinstructionhoweveronlyexecutesareturnto

themainprogramleavingtheEMIbitinitspresentzerostateandthereforedisablingtheexecution

offurtherinterrupts.
