LCD Operation AnexternalLCDpanelcanbedrivenusingthesedevicesbyconfiguringtheI/Opinsascommonpins andsegmentpins.TheLCDdriverfunctioniscontrolledusingtheSCOMCregisterwhichinaddition tocontrollingtheoverallon/offfunctionalsocontrolsthebiasvoltagesetupfunction.Thisenables theLCDCOMdrivertogeneratethenecessaryVDD/2voltagelevelsforLCD1/2biasoperation. TheSCOMENbitintheSCOMCregisteristheoverallmastercontrolfortheLCDdriver.The LCDSCOMnpinisselectedtobeusedforLCDdrivingbythecorrespondingpin-sharedfunction selectionbits.NotethatthePortControlregisterdoesnotneedtofirstsetupthepinsasoutputsto enabletheLCDdriveroperation.
