InReadModetheentireFlashMemoryArraymaybedirectlyreadbythehostsystemmemorycontroller.The

memorydeviceEmbeddedAlgorithmController(EAC),putsthedeviceinReadmodeduringPower-on,aftera

HardwareReset,afteraCommandReset,orafteranEmbeddedAlgorithm(EA)issuspended.Readaccesses

andcommandwritesareacceptedinreadmode.Asubsetofcommandsareacceptedinreadmodewhenan

EAissuspended.

Whileinanymode,theStatusRegisterreadcommandmaybeissuedtocausetheStatusRegisterASOto

appearateverywordaddressinthedeviceaddressspace.InthisStatusRegisterASOMode,thedevice

interfacewaitsforareadaccessand,anywriteaccessisignored.Thenextreadaccesstothedeviceaccesses

thecontentofthestatusregister,exitstheStatusRegisterASO,andreturnstotheprevious(calling)modein

whichtheStatusRegisterreadcommandwasreceived.

InEAmodetheEACisperforminganEmbeddedAlgorithm,suchasprogrammingorerasinganon-volatile

memoryarray.WhileinEAmode,noneofthemainFlashMemoryArrayisreadablebecausetheentireflash

deviceaddressspaceisreplacedbytheDataPollingStatusASO.DataPollingStatuswillappearateveryword

locationinthedeviceaddressspace.

WhileinEAmode,onlyaProgram/ErasesuspendcommandortheStatusRegisterReadcommandwillbe

accepted.Allothercommandsareignored.Thus,nootherASOmaybeenteredfromtheEAmode.

WhenanEmbeddedAlgorithmissuspended,theDataPollingASOisvisibleuntilthedevicehassuspended

theEA.WhentheEAissuspendedtheDataPollingASOisexitedandFlashArraydataisavailable.TheData

PollingASOisreenteredwhenthesuspendedEAisresumed,untiltheEAisagainsuspendedorfinished.When

anEmbeddedAlgorithmiscompleted,theDataPollingASOisexitedandthedevicegoestotheprevious

(calling)mode(fromwhichtheEmbeddedAlgorithmwasstarted).

InASOmode,oneoftheremainingoverlayaddressspacesisentered(overlaidonthemainFlashArrayaddress

map).OnlyoneASOmaybeenteredatanyonetime.Commandstothedeviceaffectthecurrentlyentered

ASO.OnlycertaincommandsarevalidforeachASO.ThesearelistedinTable7:CommandDefinitions(page

28),ineachASOrelatedsectionofthetable.
