Traditionallythesetwoaddressspaceshaveusedseparatecommandsandwereseparateoverlays.However,

themappingofthesetwoaddressspacesarenon-overlappingandsocanbecombinedintoasingleaddress

spaceandappeartogetherinasingleoverlay.Eitherofthetraditionalcommandsusedtoaccess(enter)the

Autoselect(ID)orCFIoverlaywillcausethenowcombinedID-CFIaddressmaptoappear.

Device ID

TheJointElectronDeviceEngineeringCouncil(JEDEC)standardJEP106TdefinesthemanufacturerIDfora

compliantmemory.CommonindustryusagedefinedamethodandformatforreadingthemanufacturerIDand

adevicespecificIDfromamemorydevice.ThemanufactureranddeviceIDinformationisprimarilyintended

forprogrammingequipmenttoautomaticallymatchadevicewiththecorrespondingprogrammingalgorithm.

Spansionhasaddedadditionalfieldswithinthis32-byteaddressspace.

Common Flash Memory Interface

The JEDEC Common Flash Interface (CFI) specification (JESD68.01) defines a standardized data structure

thatmaybereadfromaflashmemorydevice,whichallowsvendor-specifiedsoftwarealgorithmstobeused

forentirefamiliesofdevices.Thedatastructurecontainsinformationforsystemconfigurationsuchasvarious

electricalandtimingparameters,andspecialfunctionssupportedbythedevice.Softwaresupportcanthen

be device-independent, Device ID-independent, and forward-and-backward-compatible for entire Flash

devicefamilies.

Status Register ASO

TheStatusRegisterASOcontainsasinglewordofregisteredvolatilestatusforEmbeddedAlgorithms.When

theStatusRegisterreadcommandisissued,thecurrentstatusiscaptured(bytherisingedgeofWE#)into

theregisterandtheASOisentered.TheStatusRegistercontentappearsonallwordlocations.Thefirstread

accessexitstheStatusRegisterASO(withtherisingedgeofCE#orOE#)andreturnstotheaddressspace

mapinusewhentheStatusRegisterreadcommandwasissued.WritecommandswillnotexittheStatus

RegisterASOstate.

TheDataPollingStatusASOcontainsasinglewordofvolatilememoryindicatingtheprogressofanEA.The

DataPollingStatusASOisenteredimmediatelyfollowingthelastwritecycleofanycommandsequencethat
