Embedded Algorithm Controller (EAC)

TheEACtakescommandsfromthehostsystemforprogramminganderasingtheflashmemoryarrayand

performs all the complex operations needed to change the non-volatile memory state. This frees the host

systemfromanyneedtomanagetheprogramanderaseprocesses.

TherearefourEACoperationcategories:

• Standby(ReadMode)

• AddressSpaceSwitching

• EmbeddedAlgorithms(EA)

• AdvancedSectorProtection(ASP)Management

EAC Standby

In the standby mode current consumption is greatly reduced. The EAC enters its standby mode when no

commandisbeingprocessedandnoEmbeddedAlgorithmisinprogress.Ifthedeviceisdeselected(CE#

=High)duringanEmbeddedAlgorithm,thedevicestilldrawsactivecurrentuntiltheoperationiscompleted

(ICC3).ICC4inSection9.4:DCCharacteristics(page48)representsthestandbycurrentspecificationwhen

boththeHostInterfaceandEACareintheirStandbystate.

Address Space Switching

Writingspecificaddressanddatasequences(commandsequences)switchthememorydeviceaddressspace

fromthemainflasharraytooneoftheAddressSpaceOverlays(ASO).
